Below are some of the most beautiful diamonds in history.

Koh-I-Noor

The word Koh-I-Noor means “Mountain of Light” in Persian. At 105 carats, this stunning diamond was once known as the largest in the world. The diamond was excavated from the Golconda mines in India, and it went on to be in possession of various rulers in Medieval India.

Today, it rests with the British crown and is kept at the HMT tower in London. It is still one of the most admired diamonds in the world.

The Hope Diamond

The Hope Diamond is the most stunning and beautiful blue diamonds in the world. It weighs 45.52 carats and is preserved in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. The natural blue color of the stone is due to the presence of boron impurities in the crystal. However, the diamond gives off a red phosphor color when exposed to ultraviolet light.

Centenary Diamond

The De Beers Centenary diamond was graded as level D by the Gemological Institute of America. This is the highest grade assigned to the most colorless and flawless (internally and externally) diamond. It has a weight of 273.85 carats.

The Sancy Diamond

The Sancy Diamond is a famous 55.23-carat diamond that is believed to be of Indian origin. It was once in the possession of the Mughal rulers, and is the first diamond to be cut using symmetrical facets.

This diamond also stands out with its peculiar shape; it has no pavilion, but instead features a pair of crowns. This special item has been preserved at the Louvre Museum in Paris in the French Crown Jewel collection.

The Cullinan Diamond

The Cullinan Diamond weighs 3,106.75 carats. It is the largest rough gem-quality diamond ever to be discovered in history. Once it was polished, it became Cullinan I or Star Africa at 530.2 carats and remained the largest diamond in the world until 1985.

The Moussaieff Red Diamond

The Moussaieff Red Diamond is a stunning triangular brilliant cut diamond. It weighs 5.11 carats. The distinct red color is a treat to the eye, while its rarity makes it an even more coveted Fancy Red diamond.
