Do Rhinoviruses And Coronaviruses Cause Different Symptoms?

Rhinovirus is a form of human virus causing upper respiratory tract infections and common cold. The virus infection occurs most frequently in the spring season and autumn season. It is one of the main causes for common cold, but it can cause pneumonia, sinus and ear infections, sore throat, and bronchiolitis.

Some of the symptoms of it are sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose, cough, fever, and sneezing. Occasionally, the aforesaid symptoms are accompanied by fatigue, headache, muscle ache, malaise, appetite loss, and muscle weakness. The virus infection has an incubation period of 12 to 24 hours, meaning the symptoms show subsequently and last between 7 and 11 days.

No vaccine exists against rhinovirus, so following hygienic things is the way to stop the infection. These things include the following.

  • Washing hands frequently;
  • Sneezing or coughing into the upper sleeve of the shirt or tissue paper by covering the face;
  • Avoiding touching facial areas with unclean hands;
  • Limiting contacts with possibly infected individuals; and,
  • Cleaning and disinfecting anything you touch often.

You may have come across the aforementioned in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic that has affected the world over. The coronavirus outbreak in China last December has triggered concern around the world. Coronavirus is thought to have come from a Wuhan-based meat and seafood market, and it has spread to most nations. Those who work in the healthcare industry have been advised to wear face masks to help prevent the transmission of coronavirus.

Although commoners everywhere have not been told to use coronavirus masks, they should still take the aforementioned precautionary steps. The main point of wearing the masks is to stop droplets of liquid in a sneeze or cough from transmitting to healthy individuals. Wearing the masks alone will not stop the virus spread; for this, the wearer should also do the aforementioned things.

The coronavirus disease’s and rhinovirus infection’s symptoms are more similar than different. Both viruses cause common cold. The symptoms of coronavirus disease range from slight to serious. COVID-19 has an incubation period of 2 to 14 days. This means the time from the exposure to coronavirus to the manifestation of symptoms is between 2 and 14 days.

Fever, shortness of breath, and cough are three of the COVID-19 symptoms. An individual having a weak immune system could develop more severe symptoms, such as bronchitis or pneumonia.
